Parittran received great appreciations award from rotary club for its significant contributions of establishing dalit rights in Bangladesh on 26 December 2015 at Weekly Meeting of Rotary Club of Dhaka One at Hotel Six Seasons, Dhaka. SAM Showket Hossain, District Governor, RID 3281 was handing over the honorary crest to Dalit activist and coordinator of Parittran & Bangladesh Dalit Parishad Mr. Bikash Das.
Bikash Das, as the dalit activist presented the socio economic situation and suffering of caste based discrimination in the assembly. He focused the social, political, economical exclusion of dalits in Bangladesh. There are approximately 10 million dalit’s livings in Bangladesh. Due to birth and hereditary professions dalits suffering worst by this caste system. They are restricted to access in public & private places, social services, health, education and excluded from mainstream also.
Honorable District Governor SAM Showket Hossain also expressed his solidarity with demand of dalits. He said, in order to establish dalit rights we have to work together. Bangladesh Constitution has addressed equal rights for all human being. So, govt. should emphasis to enact and implement law to protect dalit rights, he added. He requested to all Rotarians to contribute for development of dalits in Bangladesh.
Mr. Kazi Ahmmed Monowar, President of Rotary Club of Dhaka One moderated the meeting. Members of Rotary Club of Dhaka One and Other District Officials were present at the meeting.
